Vegetarians of Washington Special Events

Here are some examples of special events we have held in the past.

Special Free meal for Vegetarians of Washington members

Devra Gartenstein, author of The Accidental Vegan cookbook and founder of the Lucky Palate, has opened up a brand new restaurant, Patty Pan Grill, in the heart of Old Ballard featuring delicious vegetarian take-out food made with local and sustainable ingredients. To celebrate the grand opening all Vegetarians of Washington members were invited to come in for a free meal. Patty Pan Grill is located at 5402 20th Avenue NW, Seattle and is open from 11:30am - 6pm weekdays and 12pm - 5pm Saturdays.

Special Free Cooking Demonstration

Julia Terry is the author of "Conscious Vegetarian: The Art of Cooking and Living with Minimum Waste", a brand new vegetarian cookbook which contains delicious, well balanced, easy to prepare recipes from around the world. She gave a free cooking demonstration of some of her delicious recipes, with lots of samples to taste. She was also available for signings of her new book, and to answer your questions about cooking and nutrition. The event was held at the Newport Hills Swim and Tennis Club in Bellevue.

Dr. Marilyn Joyce spoke on all these topics and more. This free event was co-sponsored by Vegetarians of Washington and the Sno-Isle Co-op. It was held at Cascade Crags: 2820 Rucker Ave., Everett, WA.

Special Speaker Event - Neal Barnard M.D. at the Mount Baker Club

Vegetarians of Washington hosted Neal Barnard, M.D., president and founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, for a special speaking event at the Mount Baker Club. Neal spoke about the foundations of a healthy vegetarian diet. He also had tips from his new book, Breaking the Food Seduction, on how to handle food cravings. This was helpful for anyone wanting to lower cholesterol, or improve their overall health health.

This was a free event! There was a book signing and sale following the talk courtesy of University Bookstore. Dr Barnard is the author of six previous books, including Eat Right, Live Longer and Food for Life. Healthy food samples were provided by Lucky Palate.
