We offer free nutrition and cooking classes to high schools, colleges, churches,
businesses and other civic and community groups. Classes usually include a
presentation on the health benefits of a vegetarian diet, concern for the
environment and animal welfare. Cooking classes are also available. If your
group or organization are interested in hosting one or more free classes, please
see our Speakers Bureau.
Vegetarian Solution Classes
In this FREE class you’ll learn why and how to give yourself the vegetarian
advantage for preventing and reversing many common diseases such as heart
disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes. Discover the vegetarian advantage for the
environment, the world’s hungry and all the other living creatures who share the
world with us. Learn how to make sustainable changes to your diet while enjoying
the journey. This well-researched class gives you information you can rely on.
Come and get answers to your questions! The class also includes a delicious
vegetarian cooking demonstration. This is a great opportunity to learn more
about the food we eat and to sample delicious food all in one fun filled
afternoon. This class is based on our popular books
The Vegetarian Solution,
Say No to Meat! and
The Veg-Feasting Cookbook.
Food for Life Classes
Vegetarians of Washington is associated with Food For Life Classes offered by
our president, Amanda Strombom, a
Certified Food for Life
Instructor. Food for Life is a Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
(PCRM) program, designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians, that
offers a series of different classes on cancer, diabetes, weight management,
employee wellness, and kids, focusing on the lifesaving effects of healthful
eating. Each class includes information about how certain foods and nutrients
work to promote health, along with cooking demonstrations of simple and
nutritious recipes that can be recreated easily at home. These classes will be
offered through various community organizations – see below for a list of
upcoming classes. If you are interested in hosting a Food for Life program,
please contact Amanda through our Speakers Bureau.
Upcoming Classes, open to both members and visitors
Future classes will be arranged after Vegfest. For lots of free talks by doctors and chef cooking demonstrations, be sure to come to Vegfest on March 21 and 22 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.
